La HaciendaFolks who know me know I LOVE Mexican food! I could eat it most every day, and sometimes I do! I especially like locally owned Mexican restaurants as opposed to chains. And have I got a great restaurant for you! It's called "La Hacienda" and it's located at 1106 Main Street (formerly home to Delia's, Main Street Diner, Beethoven's and probably some other restaurants as well). It's owned by Juan Bañales of Mexico who worked for many years in restaurants in Ohio before bringing his family to Cenla to open his first restaurant. La Hacienda features authentic Mexican dishes that are delicious! Everything I've eaten at La Hacienda has been wonderful. My favorites are the Beef Taquitos, Fajita Quesadilla and Beef Chimichanga. But, as I said, I haven't found anything I haven't liked ... and I've eaten there a lot!!! Another thing that stands out about La Hacienda are their chips and salsa. The chips are fried fresh each day and the salsa tastes incredibly fresh. It's a tiny bit spicier than some of the other local Mexican restaurants but not so much that you won't enjoy it. And their cheese dip is great! Juan is joined by his wife María, son Horacio and daughter Lupita in bringing first rate service to Pineville. This truly is a family run operation! They were also featured in a Town Talk article about local Hispanic families. The only caveat about La Hacienda is the parking. It can get crowded but there is additional parking at the rear. (Look for the small driveway on the right.) And in the evenings and on weekends you can park across the street. But if you're going to eat lunch there, you'd better go early because sometimes it's standing room only! La Hacienda has enjoyed such a fantastic reception that the Bañales family is about to open 2 more Mexican restaurants - La Hacienda #2 in the old Effie's/Tofu's location on South MacArthur Drive in Alexandria and Yucatan in the old Paparoux /Magnolia Grill location on Hwy 28E in Pineville. I look forward to eating at all of them!!! (written 10/30/04) |
